NOTES/COMMENTS: *Bob Dean who was out of the country last year and therefore unable to paddle, partnered up this year with veteran racer Paula Lunt to win his 7th Sheepscot River Race in the last 8 years!!
*John Mathieu shaved 4 minutes off of last year’s winning time in the Open Canoe Racing Division.
17th Year the Race has been run in Wiscasset, sponsored by Seaspray Kayaking. This year Alice Andrenyak was the big winner of a night for two and brunch donated by Bintliff’s of Edgecomb. This race is part of the Maine Canoe and Kayak Racing Organization’s Flat Water Series.
“Perfect conditions this year! Top 3 finishers were paddling a kayak, canoe and an outrigger. Great to see a mixture of boats and experience. The most common comment overhead this year at the end of the race was “Wow, what a fun race!” “This is a beautiful 6 mile race.” “We enjoy seeing all of the paddlers come together in Wiscasset and look forward to organizing this every year” Race Director Scott Shea. |
